Charles O. Lashley, 72, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Monday, June 7, 2004 at Coffee Regional Medical Center, Douglas, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Ocilla. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery, Ben Hill County. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00, Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Lashley was born April 21, 1932 in Grady County, Georgia to the late Charlie Benjamin and Chestie Spearman Lashley. He was a former resident of Americus, Coffee County and Fitzgerald. Mr. Lashley was a former Dairy Farmer and Motor Grader Operator for the Ben Hill County and Coffee County Road Departments. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Lashley is survived by two step-daughters: Angie Burkett, West Green, GA and Scarlett Paro, Conway, SC; nieces and nephews: Bonnie Turner, Peggy Giddens, Ruth Swieczkowski, all of Fitzgerald, Windell O’Neal and William O’Neal, both of Ocilla, Elbert O’Neal, Milledgeville, Marsha Parker, Flowery Branch, GA, Sandra Collins, Clayton, NC, Dennis Pitts, Monticello, FL and Frankie Pitts, Wauchula, FL; cousin: Glenn Lashley, Valdosta; ten step-grandchildren, nineteen step-great grandchildren and six step-great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carlene Nipper Lashley and one step-son, Dan Mercer.
