Jackie Phillips, 68, of Irwinville, Georgia, died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M., Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at the Ocilla Church of God, with Rev. Clayton Dowd, Rev. Matthew Rowell and Rev. Sonny Pate officiating. Interment will follow in the Irwinville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00, Tuesday evening at Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald. Mr. Phillips grandchildren will as serve as pallbearers: Lance, Corey, Chase, Scott, Austin, Ty and Olivia Phillips, Stephen McMillan, Shawn and Jacob Edwards, Kelsie, William and Roger Yawn, Jr.
Mr. Phillips born December 10, 1935, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Charles Oliver Phillips and Stella Lee Phillips. He lived in the community all of his life. Mr. Phillips was a farmer, a former employee of Modern Fibers, Georgia Forestry Department and retired a supervisor for Shaw Industries after twenty-eight years. He was a member of the Ocilla Church of God.
Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife: Johnnie F. Phillips, Irwinville; four children: Charles Phillips, Irwinville, Clint Phillips, Mystic, Shannon Yawn, Irwinville and Lee Phillips, Ocilla; thirteen grandchildren; one sister: Bettye Singletary, Irwinville; four brothers: Billy Phillips, Jerry Hancock and Johnny Hancock, all of Irwinville and Jimmy Hancock, Gray, GA. He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Bertie C. Phillips
