FRANKLIN—George E. MacDonald 71, of Franklin, died suddenly, Friday October 12, 2012 at home.
Born July 7, 1941 a son of the late Archibald and Flora A. (MacIsaac) MacDonald, he was a lifelong Franklin resident.
He was raised and educated in Franklin, and was a graduate of Franklin High School and he also attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Mr. MacDonald was a retired letter carrier for the Town of Franklin.
He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps, during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Marksmanship Badge & the Good Conduct Medal and was discharged in 1963.
He enjoyed reading, and was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Franklin.
George is survived by 3 sisters, Mary M. Curran, Florence D. Simmler and her husband Hank and Hughena M. Thompson all of Franklin. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Alexander, Robert, Archie MacDonald, Janice Kehoe and Jane Tero.

Interment with military honors will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
