St. Petersburg, FL – Margaret “Margie” (Sawdy) McCarron 89, formerly of Abington and Rockland passed away unexpectedly September 8 in St. Petersburg, Florida and would have turned 90 years old on October 25. She was the beloved wife of the late William F. McCarron.
Born and educated in Boston she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Annie (Gillis) Sawdy. She was predeceased by four brothers Paul, James, Joseph and Roderick Sawdy.
Margie worked as a bindery stitcher at the former Rumford Litho of Abington until her retirement, moving to St. Petersburg in 1985. Though she missed her family, she did not miss the “cold New England winters” and just loved her life in Florida, but she thoroughly enjoyed her many visits home during the 27 years she lived in Florida.
She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, yarn embroidery and watching TV, especially her favorite show “Monk”.
She is survived by her four loving daughters Mary McCarron (formerly Mary Moe) of Duxbury, Ellen MacDonald and her husband Kenneth of Whitman, Margaret Libby and her husband James of Sunset Beach, NC and Kathleen Cuneo and her husband Michael of Rockland, seven grandchildren William and John Moe both of Pembroke, Kenneth MacDonald of Harrison, TN, Susan Laidlaw of Plymouth, Brian Libby of Schwenksville, PA, Jennifer Price of Huntersville, NC and Tracy O’Donnell of Abington. She was also the proud “Great Grammy” of eleven great grandchildren.
Her daughters welcome family and friends to celebrate her life on Sunday October 21 at 4 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 2-4 PM. Burial will be held Monday October 22 at 10 AM in the Holy Family Cemetery, Rockland.
