Obituary

East Bridgewater – Arthur W. Harlow, Sr. 73, died Saturday October 13 surrounded by his loving family after a brave battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Carol (Graham) Harlow.

Born and raised in Boston he was the son of the late George W. and Alice L. (Norgren) Harlow and a graduate of Randolph High.

Arthur was a proud veteran of the US Army having served from 1957-1959 and then transferring to the reserves where he remained until 1963. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1822 of Plymouth.

Before his retirement he had been a longtime member of the Floor Coverer’s Local Union # 2168 of Dorchester.

Arthur had been an active member of several organizations including past Grand Chief of the Independent Order of Vikings and past Chief of the Stenkil Lodge # 92 as well as past President of the South Shore Viking Club, both of Braintree.

After his retirement Arthur, along with his wife Carol, moved to East Bridgewater where they have resided for the past eleven years. He loved to cook and share his talents with his family and many friends, but his greatest joy came from being “Papa” to his seven grandchildren and the precious time he spent with them and following their many activities.

In addition to his wife Carol he is survived by his loving children Michael T. Harlow and his wife Sara of Rockland, and Christine Goodick and her husband Ralph of Whitman. He is also survived by his grandchildren, whom he adored, Michael, Jr., Celia and Abigail Harlow, James and Christopher Goodick, Kaitlyn Small and Jessica Wheelden, and his great grandchildren Aaron and Allyson Small as well as his nephew Stephen LeBlanc and his wife Lisa of Pembroke and his niece Marie LeBlanc. He was the brother of the late Judith LeBlanc.

His services will be held Thursday October 18 at 10:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by funeral mass at 11 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow in the St. James Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday October 17 from 4-8 PM with a Viking service to be held at 7 PM.

For eleven years Arthur had been an avid fundraiser and supporter of the Arthur C. Luf Burn Camp for Children, therefore donations in his name may be made to the IOV Children’s Burn Camp Fund, C/O Stenkil Lodge 410 Quincy Ave, Braintree, MA 02184 Attention: Carol Harlow.
