Alton-----Donald Sargent Brock, 92, of 446 Stockbridge Corner, died at the Laconia Rehabilitation Center on Thursday, October 11, 2012. Mr. Brock was the widower of Florence (Cress) Brock.
Mr. Brock was born March 30, 1920 in Arlington, MA, the son of Carl and Edith (Sargent) Brock. Over the years, Mr. Brock resided in MA, ME, RI, GA, CA, FL and IL before retiring to NH. He worked for several years in sales and owned and operated a NAPA Auto Parts store in CA. He was also proprietor of Debco home inspections and a realtor in NH.
Mr. Brock was a member of the Planning and Zoning Board in Alton, NH for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Masons of Portland, ME and was a member of the Lions Club in CA.
Mr. Brock loved his family and loved living in New Hampshire. He enjoyed trips to Lake Sunapee and the ocean. His hobbies were wood working, and building things. He had a love for birds and a very special affection for his cat and constant companion, Sierra. From conductor to musician, he also had a lifelong passion for music.
Survivors include a son, Donald S. Brock, Jr., of Riverside, CA; a daughter, Diane “Debbie” Simmons and her husband Jerry, of St. Augustine, FL; two grandchildren, Jeremy Simmons and Matthew Simmons and his wife, Shannon; and his beloved niece and caregiver, Dolores Chambers, of Alton. In addition to his wife and his parents, Mr. Brock was predeceased by a brother, Frank Brock and by a sister, Marsha Tennant.
There will be no calling hours.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Wolfeboro Falls, 116 Center Street. A reception will follow at the church.
