Elizabeth “Betty” Cowles 90Elizabeth “Betty” {Nice} Cowles, of Walpole, died in her home on Sunday June 6. Born in Ambler PA in 1914. She came to Needham in in the late 1940s and moved to Walpole about 5 years ago. She was an active member of the church for over 48 years and was involved in the Women’s Club and Choir of the Church as well as a Bell Ringer. Betty was also a member of the Great Plain Squares. Betty was the wife of the late Roderick J Cowles and the late James Claville, whom she was widowed to after 8 months from the Battle of the Bulge. She is the beloved mother of Phillis J Trimble of Mulberry TN and Shirley G Cowles of Walpole formerly of Needham. Dear sister of Ruth Paton of Amber PA and the late Thelma Metgzer. Loving grandmother of Linda Trimble Hammock and Jeffrey Trimble, also survived by three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held on Friday June 11 at 10:00 AM from the Carter Memorial United Methodist Church, 800 Highland Ave. Needham, MA 02492. Visiting Hours will be Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9:00 PM from the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave. Needham. Burial will be at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Music Fund of the Carter Memorial United Methodist Church.
