New Bedford – Onorina Couto, age 89, died Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Sacred Heart Home of New Bedford. She was the beloved wife of the late Jose Couto. Mrs. Couto is survived by her sons John Couto and Charlie Couto both of Datmouth and Antonio Couto and Joseph Couto both of New Bedford. Onorina was sister of Alvaro Santos of Portugal and Antonio Santos of Brazil. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Couto was sister of the late Diamantina Pimentel.
Mrs. Couto was the daughter of the late Jorgina (Rapoza) and Manuel Santos. She was born in St. Michael, Açores and has lived in this country since 1968. Onorina was a loyal Jehovah's Witness until her death. Mrs. Couto was a stitcher at the Cliftex Corparation.
Mrs. Couto’s funeral will be at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. on Tuesday with Services beginning at 11 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be prior to the service from 9 – 11 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
