Eva M. Barnes, 84

Eva M. (Dumont) Barnes, 84, of Norton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at the Life Care Center of Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Norman H. Barnes who died on August 6, 1998.
Born in Attleboro, MA on April 23, 1928, she was a dear daughter of the late Louis and Rose (Marien) Dumont. She grew up in Attleboro and was educated in Attleboro public schools.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Barnes had worked for many years as a secretary at Swank, Inc. in Attleboro and had formerly been employed at the former L.G. Balfour Co. in Attleboro and at the former Shields Co., also in Attleboro.
A Norton resident for the past 64 years, Eva was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton. She was a talented seamstress and was always dressed quite fashionably.
She loved to travel and some her favorite places of destination were the beautiful mountains of New Hampshire and Vermont.
She is survived by her devoted brothers, Armand Dumont of Norton and Albert Dumont of Attleboro. She is also survived by 3 nephews, several cousins and her dear friend Alex Cahoon of Attleboro.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday, October 17th from 6-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.
A service will be held at the conclusion of visiting hours at 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately at a later date at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Rehoboth.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Eva with a donation in her memory made to a charity of ones choice.
