WORCESTER___John Szerejko, 79, of 117 Orient St., died Friday June 4 in University Commons Nursing Center, Worcester. His wife, Elizabeth W. (Domagalska) Szerejko died Feb. 12, 2000.
He leaves two daughters, Barbara Y. Haberlin of Brookfield and Deborah J. Sweenor of Worcester; three grandchildren, Jenipher M. Fortier, Adam Sweenor and Eric Sweenor. He was born in Warsaw, Poland, son of Feliks and Leokadia (Szymanska) Szerejko and has lived here since 1948.
Mr. Szerejko was a maintenance mechanic 27 years for Norton Co., and retired in 1987.
He was a Polish Army veteran and was a prisoner of war. He was also a member of the Massachusetts National Guard. Mr. Szerejko was a member of the Norton Sportsmen Club and had been a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church and Immaculate Conception Church.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday June 8 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.Calling hours in the funeral home are Monday June 7 from 6 to 8 p.m.
