Mrs. Cora T. (Courcy) Schondek, formerly of Taunton, died Monday, October 8 in The Cedars, Dartmouth, following a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late Wesley A. Schondek. She was born 91 years ago in Taunton, the daughter of the late Arthur and Cordiana (Paquin) Courcy. She was educated in Taunton and had been a city resident for most of her life. Prior to her retirement in 1984, she had been employed in the Medical Records Department of Taunton State Hospital for 16 years. Cora was a former member of the Queen’s Daughters in Taunton. She enjoyed needlework, knitting and gardening. She was a communicant of the former St. Jacques Parish in Taunton.
She leaves her niece, Charlene A. (Tarr) Martin of Westport, her nephew, Paul G. Tarr of California, and several other nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was also the sister of the late Teresa A. Tarr and Bertha Courcy, both of Taunton.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Thursday, October 11 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours are respectfully omitted.
