Homer Smith, Jr. age 79, of DeFuniak Springs died Sunday, October 7, 2012. He was born June 14, 1933 in Wray, Georgia to Homer, Sr. and Ella Mae McCloud Smith.
Mr. Smith was a resident of Walton County, Florida. He was Baptist by faith. He worked as a Saw Filer with Louisiana Pacific and Hodges Paper Company for many years before retiring. He enjoyed riding horses, and was an avid outdoorsman.
Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mattie Smith; one brother Billy Carl Smith and one grandson Freddie Cecil Mount, Jr.
Mr. Smith is survived by his one son Joey Smith of DeFuniak Springs, three daughters Betty Ann Mize, Bonnie Sue Durcho and Lisa Gatch all of DeFuniak Springs; one brother Sam Smith and Jo Young of Fitzgerald, Georgia; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 6:00~8:00 PM, Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Old Union Cemetery in Wray, Georgia, with Sammy Smith officiating.
