Betty Jean Anthony Bright, age 80, died October 5, 2012 in Yalobusha General Hospital, Water Valley, MS. She was born October 14, 1931 in Carroll County, MS to the late Alvin Stewart and Willie Andrews Anthony. Betty was a Baptist, and worked as a jailer for the Marshall County Jail in Holly Springs, MS. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed cooking, working in her garden and canning vegetables.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 11, 2012 from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 3:30 PM in the Ashland Cemetery in Ashland, MS with Bro. Raymond Aven officiating. Jim Phillips, Bill Phillips, Michael Phillips, R. J. Potts, Devin Bright, Matt Bright, Harold Potts and Don Dickerson will serve as pallbearers.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Barbara Anthony Phillips Delong of Water Valley, MS; her grandchildren, Lisa Phillips Potts (Harold), Teresa Phillips Gaines (Lee), Bill Phillips (Marly), Jim Phillips, Devin Bright and Matt Bright; her great grandchildren, R. J. Potts, Connor Potts, Chance Potts, Corey Gaines, Cheyanne Gaines, Dorien Gaines, Micheal Phillips, Shania Phillips and Dylan Phillips; and her great-great grandchildren, Jordyn Gaines, Bentley Gaines, and Braxton Gaines.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Louin Ray Bright; her son, Micheal Ray Bright; two sisters, Kathleen Anthony Ponder and Doris Anthony Lee; six brothers, Alvin Stewart Anthony, Jr., B. F. Anthony, Cecil Anthony, Bobby Anthony, John Anthony and Wayne Anthony.
