Steier, Margie Corrine (Whitlow), 86, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 4, 2012, at Meadowview Health & Rehab., with her loving family by her side.
Margie was a devoted and nurturing mother of nine, grandmother of 23 and great-grandmother of nine. She was a very talented seamstress. Many causes benefited from her time and talent. She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Parish for over 50 years. She retired her clerical role from Jefferson County Public Schools, and also worked at B.F. Goodrich.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Emery E. Steier, and a grandson, Jacob R. Miles.
Margie is survived by her children, Michael E. (Joyce) of Bowie, MD, Carole S. Miles (Glenn), Stephen P. “Steve” (Lou), Anthony A. “Tony” (Ronnie), Mary Patricia “Patti” Bruenderman (Jim), Kevin L. (Laura), Donna S. Ramsay (Fred), Janice S. Hummel (David) and Angela K. “Angie” Franconia (Jimmy), all of Louisville.
Even in death, Margie’s generous spirit continues through the bequeathal of her body to the University of Louisville Bequeathal Program. Cremation will follow.
A gathering to celebrate Margie’s life will be held at Owen Funeral Home-Jeffersontown, 9318 Taylorsville Road, Jeffersontown, KY 40299, on Sunday, October 7, from 2-8pm. A memorial mass will be held on Monday, October 8, at 11am at St. Edward Catholic Church, 9608 Sue Helen Drive, Jeffersontown, KY 40299.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Edward Catholic Church, or Mass of the Air, 508 Breckenridge Lane, Louisville, KY 40207.
