Lendon Gary Bennett, 60, of Omega died Thursday, October 4, 2012, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 7, 2012, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Jim Duggan and Dr. Danny Ray will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Brian Frazier, Johnny Woods, Donnie Woods, Mike Woods, Zack Greer, Hunter Greer, Hal Walker, Tyler Walker, Daniel Cribb, B. J. Brannen and John Massey will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Kelly, Tim Wiggins, Harry Frazier, Lamar Frazier, Royce McBrayer, Ray Prince, Darrell McKee, Guy Haynes, Darrell Denham, James Shaw, Steve Greer and the Tiftarea Hospice Team. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 6, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Bennett was born on July 28, 1952 in Cook County and was the son of Ruth Exum Bennett of Lenox and the late L. K. Bennett. He was employed as an electrician with Miller-Coors in Albany and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ty Ty.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Bennett is survived by his wife, Marcia Walker Bennett of Omega; one son, Christopher Gary Bennett of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Miranda and Josh Tucker of Tifton; three sisters, Helen Wiggins of Lenox, Diane Rye of Adel and Vicki Swain of Nashville; and three grandchildren, Taylor Tucker, Reilly Grace Bennett and Loralee Bennett.
