Hazel F. (Gifford) Cahill, 94, of Little Compton, RI died Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Forest Farm Health Care Center in Middletown, RI. She was wife of the late Richard “Tommy” Cahill.
Born in Westport, daughter of the late Walter L. and Dellaphine E. (Kirby) Gifford, she had lived in Little Compton since 1938. She attended the Acoaxet Chapel in Westport. Mrs. Cahill was a 60 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #37 of Little Compton, served on the Little Compton Board of Canvassers for many years and served as the Little Compton Director of Public Welfare. She also enjoyed playing cards.
Survivors include a sister: Evelyn Norman of Westport; and several nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Leroy A Gifford, Wendell H. Gifford, Winifred Sharples, Walter W. Gifford, Norman C. Gifford and Adelbert F. Gifford.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at the Potter Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M.
Visitation will be 9 - 10 A.M. prior to the funeral.
Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Westport.
