Joanne L. (Guarente) Caples, a 39 year resident of Melrose and formerly of Charlestown, passed into eternal life on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at her home in Melrose following a lengthy illness with cancer. She was 73 years old.
Joanne was born in Boston on April 1, 1939, a daughter of the late Joseph and Ruth (Murphy) Guarente. Joanne grew up in Charlestown where she attended the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School. Joanne worked for several years as a clerk for BlueCross BlueShield Insurance Company. Joanne's pride and joy in her life was her 3 children and later expressed exceptional love and devotion to her 4 grandsons.
Joanne is the devoted mother of Kim Carr and her companion Paul DeBruyckere of Melrose, Joseph Caples of Melrose and Kerri Taglieri and her husband David of Melrose. She is the loving Nana to Christopher Carr, Richard Taglieri, Joseph Taglieri and Jay Caples. She is the beloved sister of the late Mary Walker. She is the beloved aunt of JoAnn Chaffee and Robert Walker and great-aunt of Michael and Scott Chaffee and many other nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Joanne's Funeral on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 10:45 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St. Melrose followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church (corner of Myrtle & Herbert Sts.) Melrose at 12 noon. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Visiting hours will be on Friday October 5, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
