Obituary

Lorene Harper Black, 87, of Tifton died Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2012, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. W. E. Fogarty will officiate with burial to follow in Omega Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 4, 2012, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mrs. Black was born on January 19, 1925 in Tift County and was the daughter of Charles “Charlie” Harper, Sr. and Bobbie Howell Harper, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Lee Black; two sons, Charlie Black and Carl Monroe “Dickie” Black; one sister, Laura Ogletree; one brother, Willie Harper; and two grandchildren. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She loved country life, loved to cook and was a loving and giving person.

Mrs. Black is survived by two sons, Luther Black and Jackie Black, both of Tifton; five daughters, Patsy Watts of Lenox, Faye Yon of Leesburg, Letha Crosby of Tifton, Jeanette Boyd of Norman Park and Sue Pritchett of Tifton; four brothers, Ira Lee Harper of Saint Augustine, Florida, Ernest “Pete” Harper of Norman Park, Robert Harper of Saint Augustine, Florida and Charles Harper, Jr. of Lenox; three sisters, Emma Barwick of Arcadia, Florida, Bessie Nell Hodd of Ellenton and Mary Lou Esdell of Omega; 21 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; many great-great grandchildren; and a special friend, Sally Boykin of Tifton.
