Obituary

Evangelos A. Maravelis, age 83, of Windham, NH formerly of Somerville, MA, passed away peacefully at his home on September 30th, following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Electra (Marinakis) and together they shared more than 46 years of marriage. Born in Agrinio, Greece, where he was raised and educated, he was the son of the late Arthur and Vasiliki (Serrou)) Maravelis.

"Evan" as he was affectionately known to his family and friends served in the Greek Navy as young man for several years before coming to the United States fifty-five years ago. Prior to his retirement Evan worked for many years as a waiter at the Boston Park Plaza. He enjoyed spending time at his home on Cape Cod for many years, but his greatest joy was his grandchildren. They were truly the "apple of his eye" and he cherished spending as much time as possible with them and supporting them in all their activities.

Along with his beloved wife, he is survived by his devoted children, Lesleyann Splagounias and her husband Nick of Windham, NH, Arthur Maravelis and his wife Lois of North Andover, Alysia Redard and her husband Russell of Windham, NH. He was the loving papou of Alexa and Thomas Splagounias, Evan, James and Charlotte Maravelis, Christopher, Matthew and Nicholas Redard. He was the brother of Christos Maravelis and his wife Helen of Jamaica Plain, Paraskevi Christogiannis and Vasili Spanos both of Greece, and the late Demetrios Maravelis. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Dr. Nicholas Marinakis and his wife Virginia of Lynnfield. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 374 Main St., Wilmington, Thursday, October4th, at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at Sts Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Christian Church, 71 Chandler Rd., Andover, MA, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Wednesday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at New Plains Cemetery, Windham, NH.
