Obituary

Filamena Canto Biron of 28 Broadway in Mystic, CT formally from Stonington, mother of Juliana C. Woodworth of New Port Richey, FL formally from Stonington, CT passed on September 29th, 2012 at the age of 101.

She was a longtime resident of Stonington Village where she lived most of her life. She was born on March 27, 1911 in Fall River, MA, daughter of John and Filamena Paiva. She moved to Connecticut in 1953. Her first husband, Manuel C. Canto died in October, 1959 and later she married Ernest C. Biron who died in March of 1968.

She worked for many years at the former Plax Corp. and the American Velvet Mill in Stonington before her retirement. Some of her greatest pleasure was cooking for her family and friends, her beautiful counted cross stitching that adorned her home and her fantastic collection of antique hatpins.

In addition to her daughter she is survived by three grandchildren, Christopher Duncklee of Hillsboro, NH, Jonathan Duncklee of Mystic, CT and Brian Reapp of New Port Richey, FL. She also leaves four great grandchildren, Christine Duncklee Bryer, of Hancock, NH, Brian Michael Reapp, Ashley Reapp and Luke Reapp, from New Port Richey, FL and a special step granddaughter, Rachel Whitaker from Providence, RI. She is predeceased by a son, Michael who died at birth, a daughter, Grace Canto Reapp and two grandchildren, Grace Noel Reapp and Patrick Reapp and two sisters and four brothers.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 1:00pm at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., Mystic. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

Filamena’s family would like to thank the staff of Apple Rehab Mystic for the wonderful care they gave to her during her three years of residency there.
