Robert W. Siart, age 89, of Mystic passed away Saturday at his home.
Mr. Siart was born in Stonington on April 9, 1923 the son of Charles and Laura Sicard Siart. After receiving his education, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served until being honorably discharged in 1946.
He was employed at Pfizer for 39 years before retiring as a scientist in 1989.
In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, electronics, computers, fishing and was an avid New England Patriots fan and animal lover.
He was married to Janet E. McGuiness Siart in West Hartford on October 5, 1959. They were to have celebrated their 53rd Anniversary on Friday. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Janean (Richard) Ritacco of Fla., David (Debra) Siart of RI, William (Cheryl) Siart of Fla., Jay Siart of Mystic, and Jan Jens (fiance' Chris Loehr) of Groton, 9 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Siart.
His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Wednesday from 9:30-10:30am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11am at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, 69 Groton Long Point Rd, Groton. Burial and military honors will be private at the convenience of the family.
