Richard G. Dangora Jr., age 62, of Somerville passed away peacefully on September 27 at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Katherine A. (Hickey) and together they shared more than 37 years of marriage.
Born in Somerville he was the son of the late Richard G. and Anna E. (Grace) Dangora. He was a lifelong resident of Somerville and was a graduate of the Somerville Trade School. Prior to his retirement two years ago he worked as a facilities manager at the Buckingham Browne & Nichols School in Cambridge for twenty-four years. In his leisure time Richard was passionate about fishing, both saltwater and freshwater fishing. He also enjoyed traveling with one of his more recent and memorable trips traveling to Alaska. Throughout his life he enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and caring for his dogs.
Along with his beloved wife Kathy, he is survived by his sister, Dale Alianiello of Carmel, IN. He is also lovingly survived by 23 nieces and nephews and many loving in-laws and extended family members. In addition to his late parents, Richard is preceded in death by his sister, the late Diane E. Dangora.
Funeral services will be held form the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main St. Medford, Wednesday, October 3rd, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Catherine of Genoa Church, 179 Summer St., Somerville, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Tuesday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Interment services will be private. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Richard's memory to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute P.O. Box 849168 Boston, MA 02284-9168.
