Obituary

SPENCER:Arthur P. Bedard 79 of 6 Spring St., died Sunday, May 23 at home following a long illness. He leaves his wife of 53 years, Joanne M. (Beaudin) Bedard, a sister Blanche wife of Leo Bouvier of Spencer six nephews and three nieces.Mr. Bedard was the Tax Collector for the Town of Spencer for more than 10 years, retiring in 1989. At one time he served on the Spencer Board of Health and was a licensed funeral director and embalmer with the J.Henri Morin Funeral Home in Spencer.He graduated from David Prouty High School '40, and the New England Institute of Arts & Sciences in Boston. He attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute and graduated from Becker College.He served in the Army in WWII with the 377th. Bombardment Squadron in India/Burma/Tinian Theaters and in Korea with the 392 Graves Registration Co. He was a member of the VFW Prouty Post 3439, and Gaudette-Kirk Post 138 American Legion.Mr. Bedard was a member of St. Mary's Church and its' Sacred Heart League, the Retired State,County and Municipal Employees Association, the Knights of Columbus Council 118 and A.A.R.P.Born in Spencer, he was the son of Frederick and Ida Rose(Gaucher) Bedard. A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, May 28 at 11a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 60 Maple St., Spencer. Burial will follow in Mary,Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. There are no calling hours.
