Yvette M. Belisle, 62, of Front St., Woonsocket, died Tuesday at home. She was the former wife of Linwood Brooks of Manville.
Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Therese (Lamoureux) Belisle. She attended Holy Family School and remained a lifelong resident of the city.
Yvette was employed by Homefront Heath Care, Inc. for several years.
Yvette volunteered her time as a religious education teacher at several area parishes, working with special needs people and assisting with their religious education. She also volunteered with the ARC of Northern Rhode Island.
Yvette spoke on several occasions to the faculty and medical students at Brown University about her lifelong experiences with brain seizures, a condition she endured since childhood. In spite of the challenges brought on by her illness Yvette was determined to lead a full life and give of her time and abilities to others in need. She also enjoyed ceramics and working in her yard.
Yvette is survived by her son Robert Brooks of Woonsocket, two daughters Catherine Moyer, and her husband Josiah, of Woonsocket and Lynn Marie Brooks of Providence. Two grandchildren Hannah and Jonathan Neil Moyer of Woonsocket. She was the sister of Edward Jr., Roger, Paul, Lionel, and Arthur Belisle, Doris Croteau, Cecile Belisle, Theresa Lebel, Diane Bednarz, Rachel Tryhubczak, Marge Jacob, Rose Marie Belisle and the late Jules Belisle. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
Her funeral will be Monday at 9:00 am from the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Holy Family Church, South Main St., Woonsocket. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are Sunday from 4-7 pm.
