Larry Sirmans,73, of Irwin County died Thursday, September 27, 2012, at Phoebe Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, September 29, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Ocilla, with the Rev. David Biggers officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Paron Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Friday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Sirmans was born March 12, 1939 in Ocilla, GA to the late John Scrannon and Elda Jane Whitley Sirmans. Living most of his life in the community, he was retired Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base where he worked in water purification. He was a graduate of Ocilla High School and attended Middle Georgia College in Cochran, GA. Mr. Sirmans was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was of the Baptist faith. He was a former employee of Luke Peanut Company.
Survivors include children: Debra Sirmans of Fitzgerald, Scott & Merikaye Sirmans of Ocilla, GA and Brian & Lisa Sirmans of Homerville, GA; five grandchildren: Paul Wigley, Adam Wigley, Heather Tucker, Kayla Sirmans and Sean Clark; three great-grandchildren, Ayden Taylor, Rebekah and Brandi Clark; brother: Danny and Dorothy Sirmans of Ocilla and sisters: Ludell and Bob Hooker of Valdosta and Katherine and Perry Daniels of Moultrie.
