Van V. McDonald, age 85, of Brockton died peacefully September 26, 2012 at Life Care Center of Raynham. Born, raised and educated in Cramerton, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Van and Genie McDonald. Van was a Veteran of WWII and served with the Navy. He had been a longtime resident of Brockton and was the owner of Vincent’s Restaurant on High Street in Brockton for 28 years, and retired as a chef from St. Joseph Manor after ten years. Van enjoyed country music, sports, especially the Boston Red Sox, food, and time spent with his family and friends. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Rockland.
He is survived by a son Mark A. McDonald of Bridgewater, two daughters Carol J. Perrotta of Tennessee and Cathy J. Cullen of Carver; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the former husband of the late Virginia G. (Chuilli) McDonald, and brother of the late Earl, Percy, Howard and Roy McDonald, Lillian McDonald, Irene Coley, Bertha Hope, Annie Dee and Jessie McDonald.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Friday 10-11am followed by a funeral home service at 11am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery.
