John Raymond Byard, 75, of Clarksville, TN, was called home by the Lord on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at St. Thomas Hospital. He was born on January 8, 1937 in Montgomery County, Tennessee to the late Leonard Samuel Byard and Millie Mary Kentner Byard.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 12 p.m. at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Rev. Bill Graham, Dr. John David Laida, and Dr. Felts Dent officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. and Friday, September 28, 2012 from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
John was an U.S. Air Force Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. He was also a manager at Burger King. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Clarksville, TN and the St. B and Governor Square Civitan Club. He was a coach for St. B Little League. He worked for Jersey Farms Dairy, Tasty Bread and Colonial Bread. He started and managed Mrs. Winners and retired at Arby's.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Martha Jane Morrison Byard of Clarksville, TN; son, Randy Ray and Jan Byard of Glencowe, AR; two daughters, Melinda and Roy Bybee of Portland, TX and Lori Byard of Clarksville, TN; three brothers, Joe Byard, Bill Byard of Clarksville, TN and Leonard Byard, Jr. of Hall Summit, LA; sister, Rebecca Hogue of Clarksville, TN; four grandchildren, Amanda Courtney, Amber Davis, A.J. Bybee, and Dylan Byard; and seven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dylan, Gary, Brent, Bill Jr., Jeremy, Ronnie Byard, Bobby Morrison, Jr., and Alan Burkhart. Honorary pallbearers will be Dwight Dickson's Sunday School Class, Lana Broome, and Kerri Bishop.
