Obituary

Paul L. “Sonny” Southwick, formerly of Wenham and Danvers, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Ocoee Healthcare in Florida after a period of declining health. He was 90 years old.
He was the husband of the late Kathleen (Skinner) Southwick who passed away in 2005 and twin brother of the late Carl Southwick who passed away in 1985.
Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Henry and Alice (Hargraves) Southwick. He was one of 13 children, attended Lynn Public Schools, and in 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. There he served on the USS Joseph Hewes, the USS Goldsborough, and the USS Wyoming, all of which were destroyed in battle. He received a Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 2 bronze stars and an Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with 5 bronze stars. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and retired from Cullen Fuel.
He loved his morning coffee with ‘they guys’ at Mickey Ds but his greatest passion was sports, whether it be his Red Sox, Celtics. Patriots, or Bruins.
He moved to Florida in 2009 to live with his nephew and niece, Dale and Karen Bennett, who were his caregivers.
He leaves his sisters Barbara Manos of Spring Hill, FL and Jeannette Skinner of Danvers. He was brother to the late Raymond, George, Robert, Irma, Laura, Dorothy, Pauline, Sylvia, and Gloria. He also leaves several nieces and nephews, and two very close friends, Leo and Barbara McNichol.
His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012 at 10AM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
