Obituary

WORCESTER-Doris K. (Wood) Wilson, 82, of Grafton Street, passed away peacefully at home after a long illness June 1st. She leaves her beloved husband of 63 years, Richard A. Wilson, Sr., 3 sons, Richard A. Wilson, Jr. and his wife Joanne of Worcester; James F. Wilson and his wife Sharon of Worcester, Thomas E. Wilson and his wife Dianne of Oak Bluffs, 3 daughters, Kathryn L., wife of Peter H. Smyth, Sr. of Worcester, Doris A., wife of B. Frank Grant, III of Greensboro, NC and Linda J., wife of Gary P. Smith of Ashford, CT, 2 brothers, John E. Wood of Worcester and Charles T. Wood of Brewster, 18 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, William Wood of Clinton and Edward Wood of Worcester.

She was born in Worcester the daughter of William L. and Kathryn D. (Healy) Wood and attended Commerce High School. She was a star performer with Toiton-Hickey dance group and performed in the major cities of New England. Mrs. Wilson retired from the City of Worcester as a senior accounting clerk in the auditing department. She was past president of the City of Worcester Clerks Association, St. Joseph’s Guild and the League of Catholic Women. She was chairman of Camp Fire Girls at St. Stephen’s Church and a member of the Nenana Group of All Saints Episcopal Church.

The funeral is Saturday, June 5th with a service at 11:00 AM in All Saints Episcopal Church, 10 Irving Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, June 4th from 6:00 until 9:00 PM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the All Saints Episcopal Church Choir Camp Fund, 10 Irving Street, Worcester, MA 01609 or to the Visiting Nurses Association-Hospice Center, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
