Grace P. (Arena) Camara, 91, a lifelong resident of Norton, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, September 21, 2012 at the Epoch Senior Healthcare in Norton.
She was the beloved wife of the late Jordon C. Camara, Sr. who passed away on May 15, 1989 and to whom she was wed to on October 25, 1946.
Born in Boston, MA on October 16, 1920, she was a loving daughter of the late Antonio and Sarah (Celona) Arena. She grew up in Norton and was educated in Norton public schools.
In addition to being a dedicated homemaker to her family, Mrs. Camara had worked as a housekeeper at the House in the Pines in Norton and when younger was employed at the former Talbot’s Woolen Mill, at the Kilburn Glass Co. and at the former Mason Box Co. in Norton.
A lifelong communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton, Grace’s first priority was caring for her family. She loved being outdoors, especially maintaining the appearance of her yard and walking.
She was the devoted mother of Sarah J. “Sally” Westbrooks of Taunton and the late Jordon C. Camara, Jr. The dear sister of the late Samuel J. Arena, Sr., she is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Marc R. Westbrooks and his wife Colleen, Jordon C. Camara, III, Erin R. Camara and Derek M. Camara, as well as her sister-in-law Mary Camara and brother-in-law John Camara both of Norton, and several nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 9:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton, followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Taunton.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, September 25th from 5-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
