NEW BEDFORD -- Dorothy P. (Paulson) Gunkel, 82, of New Bedford died Friday, May 21, 2004, at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home after a period of declining health. She was the widow of John Gunkel.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Marinus B. and Ethel C. (Mein) Paulson, she lived in Connecticut and California most of her life until returning to the New Bedford area in 2000.
Over the years, she was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Mrs. Gunkel served in the Navy during World War II.
Survivors include a brother, Bernhard F. Paulson and his wife, Fay, of Fairhaven; and several nieces and nephews.
Her private burial was in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, Ma.
