David J. Griffey, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, formerly of Natick, MA, age 44, passed away on September 9, 2012.
David was born in Boston, MA, in 1968 and was adopted soon thereafter from The New England Home for Little Wanderers by Dr. and Mrs. Louis Griffey, becoming the eighth Griffey child. For the past two years, David was employed by Bridgeport Hospital as a Security Guard.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Louis Griffey (2008) and Gladys Griffey (2007), his two brothers, Dr. Stephen Griffey (2007) and Richard Griffey (1974), and his brother-in-law, Kevin Iles (2010).
He is survived by his sisters: Susan Griffey and her husband, John Oetting; her son, Chandra Brechin; and his wife, Charlotte Gaylin, all of Maryland; Karen Griffey (wife of the late Kevin Iles) and her daughters, Katie and Caroline Iles, of Walpole, MA; Dr. Katharine (Glynn) Griffey (wife of the late Stephen Griffey) and her sons, Thomas and Christopher Griffey of Southboro, MA; Robin Griffey and her son, Quinn Griffey, of Norwood, MA; Elizabeth Griffey and Fred Heller, and her daughter, Andrea Galligan, of Quincy; and Sara and Thomas Steele and her son, Greyson Griffey, of Norwood, MA. David leaves his girlfriend, Gaia Somweba, of Bridgeport, CT, as well as many friends at Bridgeport Hospital and the wider Bridgeport community.
The family will hold a private memorial service.
