Our mom, Anna Slivka, was 97 years old. She passed away September 19, 2012, and was the only child of Samuel Mitchell and Anna Russin Mitchell. The wife of John Slivka, our dad, who died in 1976. Together they raised three children, Ann Carol Prentice (Ron), Judith Ann Ratay (John (D)), Jacqueline Giombetti (Mario (D)). She had eleven grandchildren, Sandra, Karen, Michael, Lisa, Christopher, Mark, Jonathan, Joseph, Ronald, Julie, John. There are also 10 great-grandchildren, Emily, Ryan, Cassie, Catlin, Churchill, Dayna, Joshua, Maddison, Torrey, Tylyn. She also had one great-great-grandchild, Madison. Although mom was born in Jessup, she was also a longtime resident of Madison Twp. She attended Jessup schools and went to Lacawanna Business College. While living in Jessup, she worked at Scottis Electronics and also Dastrom. When living in Jessup, she enjoyed time out with her friends Julia, Pearl, Estelle and Helen, going to the Pocono Playhouse, shopping and out to eat. While living in Moscow, she was active in the Area Agency on Aging Senior Citizens and Telespond. Our dad and mom also belonged to the Madisonville Grange. They attended Saint Cyril and Methodius Church until they moved, at that time they attended Saint Catherine's, Moscow, where she sang in the choir. Mom lived a long life, and we are thankful to have had such loving parents. Friends may call Friday from 8 a.m. till service time at 10:00 at the Glinsky Funeral Home at 129 Grant St., Olyphant, Pa. The service will be at St. Cyril's Church on Friday at 10:00. The burial service will be private.
