WEBSTER – Isabel A. (Mozdzierz) Corbin, 91, formerly of Prospect Street, died Monday, May 31, in Webster Manor. Her husband of 49 years, James H. Corbin, died in 1986. Her son, Carl E. Corbin, died in 1997.
She leaves 4 sisters, Sophie O’Connell of Auburn, Josephine Belec Harrington of Webster, Rita Blair of Dudley, and Theresa Zaganiacz of Gilbertville; her daughter-in-law, Carolin W. Corbin of Portland, ME; and 3 generations of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 3 sisters, Rose Grzyb, Emily Gromelski, and Gertrude Kosnoski and by 2 brothers, Thomas and Robert Mozdzierz.
Isabel was born in Webster, daughter of Albert and Antonia (Suss) Mozdzierz. She lived here all her life. She was a perforator at Bates Shoe Co. for over 20 years, retiring in 1972.
She was active in her church and community all her life. Isabel was a member of Saint Joseph Basilica, and a life member and former director of the Saint Joseph Polish Women’s Club. She was a charter member of the Webster Emblem Club #129, and ran several fashion shows for both organizations. She volunteered to help at blood banks for the Red Cross during World War II.
Isabel belonged to the Webster Senior Center and the Mohegan Chapter #2804 of the AARP. She was once a den mother for Boy Scout Troop #173. She did extensive research on the genealogy of the Corbin family. She excelled at cooking and baking, and enjoyed gardening, reading, and outings with family and friends.
The funeral will be held Friday, June 4, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. Calling hours are from 8:30 to 9:30 Friday morning in the funeral home.
