James J. Cordeiro, age 74, of Brockton formerly of Somerville, died peacefully at his home Tuesday, September 18, 2012. Husband for 47 years to Catherine T. (Sarno) Cordeiro. Mr. Cordeiro was born and raised in East Cambridge, a son of the late Manuel and Eva (O’Regan) Cordeiro. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, and served in the Army during the Vietnam Era. He had been employed by the Coca-Cola Company as a Route Salesman for over 30 years. Mr. Cordeiro enjoyed NASCAR racing, bowling, the Boston Celtics and visits to Nova Scotia, Canada. He was known as a practical joker who was very proud of his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children James J. Cordeiro, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Brockton; Carolyn M. Cordeiro of Fall River; Sandra Morgan and her husband Steven of Brockton and Philip L. Cordeiro and his longtime girlfriend Elizabeth Rudnicki of Rochester. He leaves his grandchildren, Brittani, Taylor and Anthony Cordeiro, Patrick and Shannon Morgan, Matthew and Ryan Cordeiro and a great granddaughter Madison Leonard. He was the brother of the late Hilda Fannelle and uncle of the late Donna Fannelle. He also leaves his dog, Buddy.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday 4-8 pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Friday at 9:45am followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 153 South Franklin Street (Rte 37) Holbrook at 11am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
