LONGVIEW, TX: Margaret C. (Sharpe) Saulnier, a former longtime resident of Somerville, passed away on September 11, 2012, two days shy of her 103rd birthday. She was predeceased by her devoted husband Henry in 1956, and she lovingly wore her wedding band until the day she died.
Born raised and educated in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Murley) Sharpe. She and her husband raised two their daughters in Somerville and were active for many years with St. Catherine’s Church. A former Girl Scout Troop leader, Margaret was employed with the Massachusetts Department of Public Welfare for 22 years. She spent the last five years living with her daughters, enjoying her grandchildren and keeping sharp with her crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Burgess and husband John of Marlborough and Anne Flynn and husband Timothy of Longview, TX; four granddaughters, Kimberly and Allyson Flynn, Theresa Burgess, and Amanda Blake; her nieces and nephews, Carmel O’Brien, Jack Strom, Susan Leitzel, and Peter and Margery Ann Duval; and a special niece, Mary Lewis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Catherine of Genoa Church, 185 Summer Street, Somerville, on Friday, September 21st at 10:00a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
