Beth Taylor Smith, 57, of Fitzgerald died Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at Fitzgerald Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P. M. Friday, September 21, at Ocilla Church of God with the Rev. Clayton Dowd officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Thursday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Smith was born December 10, 1954 in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to S. Lee and Etta Arthur Taylor. She graduated in 1972 from Fitzgerald High School and attended Georgia Southwestern College in Americus. She lived in the community most of her life and was a former resident of Auburndale, FL and Picayune, MS. Mrs. Smith worked for H.R. Kaminsky & Son and was a ward clerk for Dorminy Medical Center. She was an avid square dancer and enjoyed needlework. She was a member of the Ocilla Church of God.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband: Charles W. Smith, PhD. of Fitzgerald; daughter: Melissa & Jason Brantley of Fitzgerald; son: Brandon & Wendy Young of Fitzgerald; daughter: Dawn Saxton of Lake Wales, FL; six grandchildren: Taylor Nicole Brantley, Josie Laine Brantley, Daniel Jake Young, Jarrett Tyler Young, Isaac Merrick Wade and Faolan Victor Saxton; one great-grandchild: Ashton Lane Roberson; two brothers: Mike & Chrisy Taylor of Ashburn and Steve & Kathy Taylor of Fitzgerald along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son: Jeremy Smith and a brother Scott Taylor.
