Obituary

NEWBURYPORT, MA____Mary C. (McSherry) Masse, 50, of Newburyport, formerly of West Newbury and Naugatuck, Ct., died unexpectedly, Friday Sept. 7, 2012 in her home. Her husband, Shawn A. Masse died in 2006.

Mary is survived by her father, John K. “Jack” McSherry, four brothers, Dr. George McSherry, Atty, Kevin McSherry, J. Brian McSherry and Michael T. McSherry, a nephew, Sean McSherry, four nieces Meaghan McSherry, Erin McSherry, Caitlin McSherry and Mikaela McSherry, two aunts, one uncle, several cousins and countless friends. Mary was born in Waterbury, Ct., and raised in Naugatuck. Her mother, Mary M. (Donovan) McSherry died in 2002.

Mary graduated from Holy Cross High School, Waterbury, the University of Bridgeport in 1984 and St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing, Waterbury in 1989. Mary began her career as a Registered Nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital and in 1991 became a Staff Nurse in the St. Mary’s Hospital Hemodialysis Unit and her career would take her to positions as a Staff Nurse and Charge Nurse for Gambro Healthcare at Yale – New Haven Hospital and The Lahey Clinic, Burlington, MA, also with the Acute Hemodialysis Unit, Lawrence General Hospital, Lawrence, MA, and with North Suburban Dialysis, Saugus, MA. Since 2009 Mary has been a Nurse, Team Leader and Anemia Unit Manager with Fresenius Medical Care, Newburyport. Mary was also the Treasurer for her late husband’s business, Northern Gutters, Inc. Mary was committed to providing the best care and treatment possible for the patients she encountered. She was always thoughtful with a card or note and enjoyed the news from family and friends.

Calling hours were held in the KELLY-BRENNAN FUNERAL HOME, 768 Baldwin St., Waterbury, Ct., on Friday Sept 14, 2012. The funeral was held on Saturday Sept. 15, 2012 with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck, Ct. Burial will was in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made Holy Cross High School, 587 Oronoke Rd., Waterbury, Ct., 06708 or to Merrimack Valley Hospice 360 Merrimack St., Lawrence, Ma. 01843 as Mary was very grateful for the support they provided for her late husband. Dirsa - Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton Street, Worcester, Ma., directed the funeral arrangements.
