Alice Mae Ragsdale Bennett, age 96, passed away Monday, September 17, 2012, at her home under the care of Hospice Savannah and her personal caregivers.
Born January 12, 1916 in Fitzgerald, GA, she and her husband moved to Savannah in 1942.
She retired from Sears after 36 years of service. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Savannah.
Mrs. Bennett was predeceased by her husband, John R. Bennett, 11 siblings, including her sister and brother-in-law, Floy T and Oscar Duke, her niece, Trudy Duke, and a great-nephew, Jimmy Miller.
She is survived by her niece, Sue D. Forkner and her husband Jim, a great-nephew, Clint Miller of Atlanta, other out of town relatives, and a host of dedicated friends and caregivers. She is also survived by a step-daughter, Margaret Greene, and her family.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19th, at Fox & Weeks, Hodgson Chapel.
The funeral service will be on Thursday, September 20th, at 10:00 a.m. at Fox & Weeks, Hodgson Chapel.
The interment will be private in Fitzgerald, GA.
Remembrances may be made to Hospice Savannah or Immanuel Baptist Church.
