Virginia Dale Sartain, age 84, of Water Valley, MS died Sunday, September 16, 2012 at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, TN. She was born April 4, 1928 in Lafayette County, MS to the late James Joseph and Mary Hodge Hollowell. During her high school years, Dale was an excellent basketball player and played in Lafayette County for her Taylor Community High School. She loved baking her signature sour cream pound cakes and fruit cakes for her family and friends for various events, holidays and special occasions, and she enjoyed picnics and cooking out. Dale was a retired CNA from Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley and loved taking care of her family and others. She loved the Lord and was a faithful and devoted charter member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church of Water Valley where she served as a member of the choir, the Lord's Supper Committee and various other committees throughout the years.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 19, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Water Valley, MS with Bro. Ken Izzard and Bro. Charles Keel officiating. Burial will be in Camp Ground Cemetery with Carey Sartain, Tommy Sartain, James C. Sartain, Jeremy Sartain, Charles Terry, Chris Sartain, Austin Terry and James J. Sartain serving as pallbearers. Steven Sartain, Johnny Dunn, Jimmy Pratt, Mike Pratt,William Elvis "Cooter" Harmon, Kim Hollowell and Travis York will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Dale is survived by one daughter, Virginia Claudene Sartain Lenti of Water Valley, MS; three sons, Carey Sartain (Cathy) of Water Valley, MS, James C. Sartain (Kimberly) of Memphis, TN and Tommy Sartain (Ann) of Cordova, TN; one brother, Calvin Hollowell (Donna) of West Point, MS; five grandchildren, Steven Sartain, Jeremy Sartain, Erin Sartain Terry, Chris Sartain, and James J. Sartain;one step-grandson, Austin Terry and one great-grandchild, Joshua Sartain.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Rainey and Ruth Cain.
