Obituary

Gregg J. Medros, age 26 of Salem, died unexpectedly, Thursday, September 13, 2012 at his home in Salem. He was the son of Mary Anne (Blais) Medros of Salem and the late Bruce R. Medros.

Born and raised in Salem he was a graduate of St. Joseph School and Bishop Fenwick High School, Class of 2004. Active in sports, Gregg played in the Salem Little League and Salem Youth Soccer. Shortly after his graduation he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, of which he was most proud. He served an enlistment in Iraq as a Lance Corporal machine gunner with the 1st Battalion 25th Marines. Gregg was retired from the Marines with an honorable discharge December of 2011 on a medical disability.

Gregg was extremely close to his family and shared his wonderful sense of humor and love with them, as well as with his extended family and friends. He was a member of the Salem VFW Post 1524, Salem Moose Lodge and the American Legion.

In addition to his mother, Mary Anne, he is survived by a brother, Keith B. Medros of Salem, a sister, Denise E. Clarke and her husband James of Haverhill, a nephew Adam Clarke, his grandfathers, Robert R. Blais, Sr. of Salem and Robert Dyer of Lynn, as well as uncles and aunts, Robert R. Blais, Jr. of NH, Robert and Barbara Medros of SC, Nancy and Wayne Sorenson of Lynn. He is also survived by many cousins, friends and his military brothers in the Marines. He was predeceased by his grandmothers, Alice Blais and Eleanor Dyer.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 9:45 A.M. to be followed by his funeral mass in St. James Church, Federal St., Salem at 11:00 A.M. Visiting hours will be Monday 4 to 8 P.M. Military Honors and Committal Service will follow at Harmony Grove Cemetery, Grove St., Salem.
