Carol A. Byrd
of Tewksbury
TEWKSBURY: Carol A. (Costa) Byrd, age 72, a resident of Tewksbury for 49 years, passed away at home on Friday, September 14, with her family by her side.
Born in Cambridge on August 2, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Manuel J. Costa and the late Frances (Schnitzlein) Costa.
Carol was raised in Malden, attended Malden schools and graduated from Malden High School.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as an Insurance Agent by the Brown Insurance Company.
She enjoyed spending the summer months at the Mi-Te-Jo Campground in Milton, New Hampshire, visiting York Beach in Maine and traveling with her daughter.
Carol 's great sense of humor and outgoing personality will be missed by her many family and friends.
She is survived by her eight children, Elizabeth F. Mancini of Salem, NH, Diane M. McGonigle and her longtime companion Kevin Stott of Chelmsford, Cynthia A. Sclafani and her husband Mark of Salem, NH, Robert G. Byrd, III and his wife Michelle of Salem, NH, Lisa J. Little of Merrimack, NH, Anne-Marie Polcaro and her husband Richard, Gail L. Daukantas and her husband Alan and Amy R. Brown and her husband Timothy all of Tewksbury; one sister, Linda Monahan and her husband Thomas of Townsend; her best friend, Shirley Kelleher; also 22 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Monday, Sept. 17, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral will be held Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 9 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., in St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, Floor 6, Brookline, MA 02445.
