James Leonard Baty, age 85 of Clarksville, TN, died Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Sterling House.
A funeral service will be held Monday, September 17, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Byron Dumas officiating.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
Mr. Baty was born March 17, 1927 in Nickerson, KS, son of the late Leonard Baty and Alvessie Pike Baty. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen Lamb Baty; brothers, Robert and Calvin Baty; and a sister, Faye Lair.
Survivors include son, Jim Baty (Gayla), Clarksville; daughters, Roxie Martini (Tony), Virgina Beach, VA; and Tonia McKague (Jay), Pottsville, PA; sister, Vivian Baty, Portland, OR; five grandchildren, Frankie Martini (Nancy), Helen Owens (Jason), Patrick Baty, Brett Baty, and Amy Parrish (Steve); and great-grandchildren, Caleb, Alexis, Cecilia, Alison, Raegan, and Shelby; favorite niece Elizabeth Hale, and also his adopted family at the New Korea Restaurant.
Mr. Baty was retired from the US Army and had served in WWII, the Korean Conflict, and Vietnam. He was a member of the 11th Airbourne, 101st Airbourne, and 173rd Airbourne. He was also a retired self-employed general contractor.
