Josephine Stefursky Kollar, Sturges, Pa., passed away September 10 at Moses Taylor Hospital. She was the widow of George Kollar, a World War II veteran, who passed away in 1978.
Born in Sturges, daughter of the late Max and Veronica Simchak Stefursky, she was a graduate of Archbald High School and was employed as a seamstress with Billigs Shoe Company. She was a member of Christ the King Parish, Eynon, and attended St. Mary of Czestochowa Church. She was a faithful member of the Cenacle of Mary Prayer Group. Since her husband's death in 1978, not a single day has gone by without a mention or a story about their time together. Josephine was an excellent cook and enjoyed making homemade sauce. She also was an avid quilter and did a great deal of canning. She was an inspiration to all she knew and was always willing to share her homemade wares.
Surviving are a daughter, Judith and husband, Joe Rudalavage, Eynon; two sons, George, Scranton; and Joseph, Sturges; two sisters, Veronica (Tootsie) and husband, William Loretelli, Modesto, Calif.; and Mary Stefursky, Sturges, Pa.; a brother, Joseph Stefursky and wife, Angeline, Peckville; grandchildren, Becky McHugh, Susan Cucura, Kate Kollar, Molly Lynyak, Nora, Nellie and Wiley Kollar; great-grandchildren, Brady and Kellen McHugh, and Anna Cucura.
She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Maria Glennan Kollar (wife of George).
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday from the Michael P. Glinsky Funeral Home Inc., 129 Grant St., Olyphant, with Mass at 10 a.m. in Christ the King Parish at St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, Eynon. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.
