Obituary

June M. Mahoney, 90, of Hingham, Mass., passed away on Wednesday, September 5, at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, after a short illness.

She was born in Methuen, Mass. on October 2, 1921, the beloved daughter and only child of Gordon Stewart Allen and Elsie M. Baker. A long-time resident of Hingham, she was employed throughout her life in a variety of occupations: as a trained draughtsman, a dental assistant, and a real estate agent, and, upon retirement, owned and operated a small gift shop. Tracing her ancestry back to those arriving on the Mayflower, she was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Colonial Dames, the Society of the Descendants of Colonial Clergy, The Mayflower Society, and other lineage organizations, as well as a member of the Hingham Women's Club. She enjoyed fun, laughter, conversation and travel, visiting friends and family in Florida and throughout New England, and participating in local theatrical productions and musicals. One of fifteen first cousins within the Allen family of Oxford County, Maine, and the Baker family of Essex County, Massachusetts, she is survived by and will be missed by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

All friends are welcome to join the family at a graveside service to be held at Elmwood Cemetery (Methuen Cemetery) at 130 No. Lowell Street in Methuen, Mass. at 11am on Thursday, September 13, 2012, followed by a luncheon at Hickory Hill at 200 No. Lowell Street.
