Bessie (Lois) Trawick Reaves, 82, of Wilcox County, Georgia, died Thursday, May 27, 2004, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Sunday, May 30, 2004, at Salem Baptist Church, Ben Hill County, with Rev. Leroy Reaves and Rev. J.A. Clements officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00, Saturday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Reaves was born July 1, 1921, in Bleckley County, Georgia to the late Charlie Roger and Bessie Champion Trawick. She lived in Wilcox County for the past eight years from Ben Hill County. Mrs. Reaves was a homemaker and seamstress at H.R. Kaminsky & Sons for twenty-four years and a former employee of Wilcox Garment Factory in Rochelle. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
Mrs. Reaves is survived by three daughters: Mary H. Smathers, Slayden, TN, Hazel A. Brown, Wilcox County and Betty Jo Adkinson, Rochelle; four sons: Roger Reaves, Johnny Reaves and Billy Reaves, all of Wilcox County and George Elton Reaves, Jr., Rochelle; fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Elton Reaves, Sr., one son, James David Reaves, one daughter, Karleen Reaves and four brothers, James, Charlie, George and Lewis Trawick.
