Virginia M. (Butler) Buffone 80, of Franklin, died peacefully Saturday Sept. 8, 2012 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital following an illness surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Salvatore F. Buffone.
Born in Providence, RI on November 10, 1931 a daughter of the late John and Anna M. (Floody) Butler she was a resident of Franklin for 56 years.
She was raised and educated in Providence, where she was a graduate of Hope High School and worked as a telephone operator for the former New England Telephone office in Providence. She also worked at Whiting and Davis in Plainville.
Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother; she enjoyed cooking, reading, traveling and dancing.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Franklin and volunteered at the Franklin Public Library.
In addition to her husband of 56 years she is survived by 2 sons, David F. Buffone and his wife Linda of Milford and James M. Buffone and his wife Wendy of Franklin, a brother Robert Butler of Cranston, RI, a sister Shirley Quirk of Coventry, RI.
She also leaves her grandchildren; Ashley R. Buffone Brittany L. Pasquarosa, Chelsey N., Dominic J., and Joseph S. Buffone & many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late John “Jack” Butler.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Thursday Sept. 13th, at 9:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. Franklin, www.oterifuneralhome.com, with a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church 1 Church Sq. Franklin at 10AM. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
