Obituary

SKIPPER - Donald "Buck" Skipper, 83, passed away Saturday evening, September 8, 2012 at Baptist Medical Center in Fernandina Beach.
He was born August 19, 1929 in Jacksonville, FL and moved to Chester in 1960. He was a Korean War Veteran serving with the U. S. Army. Mr. Skipper was a kind and generous man and loved by all who knew him. He worked hard all his life and love the water. He has been a tug boat operator and shrimper and also worked in seafood processing. He was also employed for a number of years by the Nassau County School Board. Family was most important to him. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Mr. Skipper was predeceased by his wife, Wanda Jerrie Skipper who passed away in 2007.
Survivors include a daughter, Stacey L. Skipper (Robert) of Chester, FL; two sons, Donald Jay Skipper (Mary) of Troutman, NC and David Scott Skipper (Lawanna) of Chester, FL; a brother, Robert Skipper (Dolly) of Daytona Beach, FL; his mother in law, Violet Voncile Gilbert; two sisters in law, Barbara Tomlinson and Bobbie Skipper; three grandchildren, Scotty Skipper, Jessica Skipper and Meagan Welsh; seven great grandchildren, Dylan, Ashton, Tripp, Joseph, Dustin, Billy and Brantley.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, September 13, in the Stephens Chapel at Green Pine Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Green Pine Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. Thursday until the time of service.
For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice of N. E. Florida. Flowers will also be gratefully accepted.
