Walter Bubnowicz, 95, of Franklin died September 9 in his home. He was the husband of the late Lillian (Ristaino) Bubnowicz, who died in 2000.
Born in Maynard, December 20, 1916, the son of the late Joseph and Annie (Karpowicz) Bubnowicz, Mr. Bubnowicz was raised in Maynard and had lived in Franklin for many years.
Mr. Bubnowicz had been a printing operator at Dennison Manufacturing in Framingham for over 28 years before retiring.
Mr. Bubnowicz served in the Army during World War II, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He saw action in the invasion of Normandy, and was involved in the Battle of the Bulge.
Mr. Bubnowicz was the recipient of a purple heart for being wounded in action.
Walter had been an usher at St. Mary’s Church for many years.
He is survived by his daughter Roberta Lariviere and her husband Roger of Cumberland, Rhode Island.
He is also survived by his grandson Robert Lariviere.
He was the brother of the late Veronica Bergrren and John Bubnowicz.
He is also survived by sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Friday September 14 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main St. Franklin at 9:15 followed by a funeral mass in St. Mary’s Church at 10:00
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 5-8 in the funeral home.
