Obituary


Chandnoit, Francis J., passed away Sept. 8, 2012 at Bedford V.A. Hospital. Francis was the son of the late Francis J. and Emma (Smith) Chandnoit. Born in Sudbury, Francis lived in Waltham until he enlisted in the Navy in 1942.Francis was one of 50 sailors who helped sail the USS Norman Scott from Bath Maine to Boston where they picked up 200 sailors who sailed to San Diego on to Casablanca and then to the South Pacific where the Norman Scott participated in the battle of Mid Way.The ship was bombed by the Japanese. The Commander was killed along with many sailors. Francis received seven (7) battle stars while serving in the Navy. Living in Maynard, Francis was pre deceased by his wife of 36 years Pauline (Brumis) Chandnoit. Francis will receive a full military honors burial at Bourne National Cemetery. Francis will be greatly missed by his brothers and sisters, his many nieces and nephews and all his many friends.

A graveside service will be held on Friday September 21, at 1:00 PM in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
